Power of the Tongue

I recently did a series of live videos on my Natural Spunk N Shine with Sherry FB page called Habits of Success... Saying Decrees happened to be one of the habits. I promised the listeners I would post a blog with more information on the power and benefits of decrees.

The words you speak potentially create life or death – it is all in the power of the tongue!

The Tongue Is a Fire

James 3 Do not become teachers in large numbers, my brothers, since you know that we who are teachers will incur a stricter judgment. 2 For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to rein in the whole body as well. 3 Now if we put the bits into the horses’ mouths so that they will obey us, we direct their whole body as well. 4 Look at the ships too: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are nevertheless directed by a very small rudder wherever the inclination of the pilot determines. 5 So also the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things.

See how great a forest is set aflame by such a small fire!

6 And the tongue is a fire, the very world of unrighteousness; the tongue is set among our body’s parts as that which defiles the whole body and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell.7 For every species of beasts and birds, of reptiles and creatures of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by the human race.8 But no one among mankind can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

9 With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people, who have been made in the likeness of God;10 from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brothers and sisters, these things should not be this way

BUT when we speak a DECREE that comes from God Himself, we are operating in power.

When you proclaim God’s truth out loud with faith and conviction, it creates a powerful framework in the unseen dimension. Eventually you will see the manifestation of your hopes, dreams, and goals. AMAZING!

Jesus said in John 6:63 "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh provides no benefit; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit, and are life." When you proclaim God's Word in faith, it is activated to bring about His will and purposes in your life.

Benefits of proclaiming Decrees

• The word you speak will accomplish everything it is sent to do. When you decree God's Word it will bring itself to pass. His Word is the final authority. It He said it. He will be sure to make it good. Isaiah 55:11 "So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the purpose for which I sent it."

• The decree you speak will dispatch angels to work on your behalf. Psalms 103:20 Bless the Lord, you His angels, Mighty in strength, who perform His word, Obeying the voice of His word!

• The word you speak will put the will of God over your life. Manifest results will occur. Hebrews 11: 3 By faith we understand that the world has been created by the word of God so that what is seen has not been made out of things that are visible.

• The Decrees you speak function as spiritual warfare weapons to secure victory in your life. 2 Corinthians 10: 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not wage battle according to the flesh,4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.5 We are destroying arguments and all arrogance raised against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,

• You words will send forth light that will penetrate the darkness. Psalm 119 The unfolding of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.

• Faith-filled decrees will create in your life what was not present Romans 4:17 (as it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed, that is, God, who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that do not exist.

• Decrees will strengthen and empower you. Ephesians 3:16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner self.

• The decree is lie a seed that brings in a harvest. Read Mark chapter 4 Parable of the Sower and Soils

• Saying a decree sets you apart for God John 17:17 Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.

• Speaking the Word will light your path. Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet, And a light to my path.

• Decreeing the Word secures your blessing Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

• Ensures answers to your prayers John 15:7 If you remain in Me, and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

As you proclaim decrees, it will also establish a renewed vision for yourself and cause you to believe for breakthroughs in your life!
